The school has a fully equipped art room where every pupil has a one hour lesson per week. This provides a broad and balanced curriculum with the aim of stimulating creativity and imagination. Pupils spend approximately half a term at a time working with different media, and progressively gain appropriate skills through a wide range of activities during their four years at the school. Many opportunities are provided for links with other curriculum areas where pupils are taught about the diverse roles and functions of art, craft and design in different times and cultures. The Art department shares a technician with Technology and Science, so that resources and equipment are prepared and ready for use, clay work fired in the kiln room and displays of work presented around school.
